Brief Summary of the Article:
Hundreds of police officers and armed forces of Ecuador rose against the government of President Rafael Correa to have a law rejected. This law would eliminate bonuses, promotions, and awards to the members of the police or armed forces. Protestes have taken over airport in Quito not alowing any flights in or out. They have also gathered at the National Assembly in Quito, where this law was passed. Hundreds of soldiers have gone and demanded promotions, bonuses and awards.Police declared they would remain inactive which has lead to closing of buinesses, looting, and violence.
Your Thoughts, Comments, and/or Reaction:
After reading and analizing this article it is apparent that this legislation does not have the safety of the people in mind. While the question of why the government not revoke this law may come up, legislators have declared that the law will not be revoked. Hopefully the government will come to its senses and relize that for the safety of the the people and the country, the law needs to be revoked.
Article's Relation to "Politics"
This article relates to politics in that it reveals the tentions of the people toward the government and the governments stuborn nature. While the laws that are passed are creating great tension there is a possiblility of a revolution. With the peoples dissatisfaction with the government their is the possibility of change in government by the people.
